UFC 239: Allen vs Melendez Odds, Preview and Pick

Arnold Allen (-350) vs Gilbert Melendez (+265)

Arnold Allen (14-1) could be among the best boxers that you have not seen before and the chances suggest oddsmakers are taking him seriously against Gilbert Melendez (22-7). Allen will fly under the radar a bit as he has only fought once a year since 2014, but when he does struggle, fans are in for a treat.
Allen is somebody who lets his game do the talking and that he doesn’t tend to be a personality pre- or post-fight, that can hurt when it comes to marketing. He is making an effort to be more active as this is his next fight in 2019. He comes into this bout undefeated in the UFC with a 5-0 record with just two performance of the night awards to his credit.
Gilbert Melendez, 12 years old than the upstart Allen, has been through wars with just about everybody in the UFC. Melendez has without question declined, entering the struggle. It is never a fantastic sign when a fighter should step away from the game to find their love for this . After his final struggle, he did just that, but I have very real questions about the motivation of Melendez, that has not won because 2013.
This will be the biggest fight of Allen’s career and if he’s got a nice showing, it should vault him into the top 15, eventually. He is very well educated and has shown an ability to accommodate to the struggle in front of him.
Lately, he’s given away a number of his approach , saying:"I’m ready for anything, I have had all sorts of fights. I have been in boring fights where no one will get hit and you end up winning without getting touched, and I have had fights where I’ve been in little brawls, type of grinding struggles, so I will be ready for whatever he brings. I’m just going to outpoint himoutskill him, and going for a bit better than him on the evening ."
I concur, and Allen must point-fight his way to a decision victory, but he wants not to give in to Melendez, who’ll desire a kill-or-be-killed firefight.

Brooklyn Nets: 66-1

The Brooklyn Nets lost crucial characters this summer, as they watched Jason Kidd skip town for Paul and Milwaukee Pierce join the upstart Washington Wizards. Those losses will alter the makeup not, although significantly of Brooklyn . Lionel Hollins replaces Kidd, and his seven seasons of head coaching experience should mesh nicely with the Nets’ veteran roster. At the same time, Beckley Mason, in a piece for ESPN.com, raised some intriguing questions regarding the reputation Hollins built with the Memphis Grizzlies.
“Is what Tony Allen does really something you can tutor?" he asked. “Is how Marc Gasol moves 7’0″ and 260 lbs to stymie a point protector something anyone can learn?"
We’re about to find out.
We find out whether rookie import Bojan Bogdanovic can replicate Pierce’s generation on the wing. And we will soon see if Mason Plumlee’s time with Team USA in the FIBA Basketball World Cup will lead to a sophomore effort that is big Brook Lopez must overcome another setback with his surgically repaired foot, and Kevin Garnett must prove he’s got. But with Joe Johnson and Deron Williams in the backcourt and Jarrett Jack replacing Shaun Livingston off the bench, Brooklyn remains a savvy squad using a fair amount of talent though most of it’s currently nearing its expiry date.
The playoffs are a realistic target for the Nets, and if the Williams can stay healthy alongside Lopez, a top-four seed isn’t out of the question.

UFC FT. LAUDERDALE CARD UPDATES INCLUDING ALEX OLIVEIRA VS. MIKE PERRY

UFC Ft. Lauderdale is set to take place April 27 in BB&T Center, and the major event was expected to be a five-round middleweight bout between Yoel Romero and Ronaldo"Jacare" Souza. Regrettably, Romero has pulled out with trauma and the UFC is trying to get a new competitor for Souza. A few other bouts on the card also have seen changes happen, and I’ll give my initial thoughts on them below.
Alex Oliveira vs. Mike Perry, UFC on ESPN 3
An exciting welterweight bout between Alex Oliveira and Mike Perry will take place at UFC on ESPN 3. ESPN first broke the news that Perry is filling in on short notice for the wounded Li Jingliang.
Oliveira (19-6-1, 2 NC) is 9-4, 1 NC in the UFC and is coming off of a barbarous entry loss to Gunnar Nelson in his final fight. He is always in exciting struggles win-or-lose, but is lacking that touch success and hasn’t yet proven he can take another step into contender status. Perry (12-4) has a 5-4 record at the UFC but was filed by Donald Cerrone in his final struggle. We all know he’s knockout power, however he has not shown much else apart from his punching power. This one could go either way as both guys are talented yet defensively flawed. I would have to prefer Oliveira as he’s better on the floor, but Perry is certainly reside in this battle together with his KO power.
Carla Esparza vs. Virna Jandiroba, UFC on ESPN 3
Because of an injury to Livia Renata Souza, Carla Esparza will now face Virna Jandiroba at a women’s strawweight bout. Combate broke the news. Esparza (13-6) is the prior UFC women’s strawweight champion and has a 4-4 record overall from the Octagon, such as a TKO loss to Tatiana Suarez in her last outing. Jandiroba (14-0) was the Invicta women’s strawweight champion after going 3-0 in the advertising. Esparza will probably be favored because of getting more UFC expertise, but the unbeaten Jandiroba is completely a live dog in this fight.
Ben Saunders vs. Takashi Sato, UFC on ESPN 3
Additionally added to UFC on ESPN 3 is a welterweight bout between Ben Saunders and Takashi Sato. Asian MMA broke the information. Saunders (22-11-2) is just 2-4 in his third stint in the UFC, and is now coming off of back-to-back stoppage losses to Lyman Good and Sergio Moraes. He looks to be on rather the decrease. Sato (14-2) is a Pancrase vet who won his last fight, but overall looks like a suspicious signing by the UFC. Given Saunders is from Florida, possibly the UFC believes they are providing him a winnable fight , but Sato may surprise and receive the knockout win.
Gilbert Burns vs. Eric Wisely, UFC on ESPN 3
Lightweights Gilbert Burns and Eric Wisely are place to meet. Combate had the news. Burns (14-3) is 7-3 at the UFC and is coming from a decision win over Olivier Aubin-Mercier. Wisely (30-9-1) is making his return to the Octagon after going unbeaten over his last nine fights on the regional circuit. He had one previous stint at the UFC back in 2012, when he went 0-2. This is a weird fight, and the only thing I can think of is that nobody wanted to combat Burns, that I anticipate to be a huge favorite to defeat Wisely.
Roosevelt Roberts vs. Thomas Gifford, UFC on ESPN 3
And finally, lightweights Roosevelt Roberts and Thomas Gifford will meet at UFC on ESPN 3. Roberts (7-0) has completed all of his pro fights including a submission win over Darrell Horcher in his UFC debut. Gifford (14-7, 2 NC) is making his UFC debut after moving undefeated over his final five bouts on the regional circuit. Gifford seems like a decent prospect but Roosevelt has already proven he can win in the UFC and I expect him to be favored quite heavily in this one.
